Quilting for Labor Day Weekend

I may be the only one who can take two weeks
on a quilt that takes a couple of hours.
I must admit, it looked like a bunch of fabric that didn't work together,
So I took it outside to get a quick photo.

It does look like flowers!
It took some time to get the photo,
because we had a little Idaho breeze.

I totally did the math wrong on the border for this quilt.
And having all of these left over was making me feel stupid bothering me.

I think every person who sees me working on this quilt say the same thing.
"I love the colors."
So I thought I would try a crib size.

I have just begun, but I think it could work.

Lake Time

So my daughter came for a visit and we really needed a lake day.

We also painted toe nails and I am hooked on the silver.
By the way, our feet are in the water; love this lake.

And  this girl.

Now, back to work!!!!!

One more

I surprised myself and finished this up on Saturday.
It looks better than I thought it would.

I was going to work on the Snowman quilt today,
but I decided I might get this one done before I go back to work.

I love these colors.

Busy Week

I have had a busy week.
My parents came for a visit and when they do,
I hang with them.
Let's face it, they drove 600 miles, it is the very least I can do.

I did finish this little counted cross stitch.
I am going to have Wes make me a red frame.

And then there is this.  It looks very much like the one I saw on Pinterest,
I am going to work on the boarder.
I think that this will be the last quilt of the summer.

I feel okay about my list...
5 out of 8
And the beach quilt - wall hanging - is in my mind.
Should be done soon.

Another Scrappy Week

I need a large scrap quilt,
so I picked out 4 colors.
Brown, Green, Pink and Blue
Then I cut 2 1/2 inch strips.
I am not sure how it will look.
Some of these blocks are ugly.

I am hoping they will look good together.

Last week I sandwiched the basket quilt.
I have been working on it.

Antique Quilts

I love antique quilts.
Here are a few I saw.

This quilt frame looks like mine, kind of.

Love what they did with the color blocking.

Once, a tulip lover, always a tulip lover.

I love the scrappy quilt.

Love the yellow centers.

And what are antique quilts without grandmothers garden?

Quilt Barns

I love it when I see a quilt square on a barn.
Here are a few.

This one quite complicated.

Here is a rare blue/gray barn.

I love this one because it has the silo too.
I think the silos are amazing.
This particular barn and silo are at Epic.
They are part of the campus.
Yes, that means there are offices inside of them.

I love seeing these as you drive around.

These are all in Wisconsin.

We did see some in Iowa, but didn't get any pictures.
It would be a fun hobby,
driving around the country,
taking pictures of quilt squares on barns.

Football? Really?

I looked at the calendar and wondered where this summer is going.
I got busy and finished this top,
it is a Christmas present, but I haven't decided how to quilt it yet.

Looks like we can have beans for dinner tomorrow.

I love summer, don't you?

For the Beauty of the Earth

So we ventured out of Idaho for a Road Trip.
I'm always amazed at the beautiful colors of the earth.
And since quilting is all about color, I thought I would share.

Flaming Gorge as the sun is going down.

I always love the red rock, but also the layers of red rock.

We visited a few pioneer cemeteries.
I love the shade and sun combinations.

I loved the color contrast of freshly cut hay and corn.
Good thing, we saw plenty of it.

This is just peaceful.

The flowers were beautiful.

Wisconsin farms and red barns.

This is Devils Tower with two bison grazing.
It was a beautiful day.

As was this morning as we crossed the Mississippi.

Notice the sky.  It's never the same color.
I just couldn't help but be grateful for the colors of the earth.

Good to be Home

I finished this cross stitch.  I'm looking forward to visiting the Redwoods this Summer with my kids.  I was home this weeke...
