Quilt Meeting

I belong to a quilt group that meets once a month.
They eat and have show and tell.
It was my turn.
We were ready to eat.

Dixie had a bigger show and tell pile than me.

I love this pink and green quilt she made.

And this one is so darn cute.

But this little block is still making me laugh.
I may have to make one.

Football Field ???

This goes beyond scrappy and just plain cheap,
but this is suppose to look like a football field.

I asked my husband and he said,
"It looks like a quilt, that looks like a football field."
Not sure how I feel about that,
but hoping that it will look better when it is finished.

Hanger Sleeve

My quilting neighbor asked how to make a sleeve to hang quilts,
so, I decided to show how I do it.

Cut a piece of fabric about 4-5 inches by the width of the quilt minus 4 inches.

Then turn the edges under and press in half.

Sew it to the top of the quilt.

Pin it down and sew on the binding.

Hand sew the edge to the quilt.
Put a dowel through it and hang on two nails or push pins.

So this is not a wall, but it such a pretty morning, I decided to take a picture outside.

Paper Boxes

Have you ever put together  a paper box ?
They are not hard and if you use scrap book paper,
because it is already square, they go really fast.

So, I needed 35 for an outing with 35 women to an out- of -town play.
They were for snacks.
We were headed for Oakley Idaho and there isn't much in between here and there.
You should really try these  rhubarb cookies.
I make them without the frosting and the are delish!

Even though I planned this outing and furnished the snack,
I couldn't go.
My son was getting his Masters Degree.
As you can see, he has had his hands full.

Pencil Quilt

I really wanted to make a pencil quilt,
but could not find a pattern,
so I made one up.

I decided to paper piece the points.
And strip the erasers.

I put them together, however,
I ended up taking them apart.

I know the colors are wild.
But for where this is going, it is perfect.
I made this for our students.
Sadly, I am not going back to the same room.

Maybe after getting to know my new students,
I will make another one.

I still need to finish the quilt, but
my raspberries are calling and
they don't wait.

Basket Quilt

I put the border on the quilt and I think it is okay.
I am going to add a little white border.

So on this Monday, I get to start a new project.
Ummmm, so many possibilities.

Borders....

I truly believe that you should do the math and trust in the math when working on a quilt.
However, I misunderstood.....enough said.

These are the borders for my basket quilt.

This is what is left over.
Uggggggggggg......
On the bright side, they would make a cute quilt.

I picked up these very ugly clean dolls at a yard sale.
I thought I would make them a few outfits and make them beautiful.

Pencils

A couple of years ago, my friend Dixie helped me mark a quilt.
She insisted on using a pencil and it washed out.
So, I used a pencil on this quilt and thought,
What if it doesn't wash out!!!

Well, it did.
What can I say?

It is done and ready to be hung in my quilt guest room.
