Quilts, quilts, quilts

I picked out fabric for a baby quilt I'm going to make.
Still thinking about it,
but I think it will do.

I continue to love the 12 inch squares.
I'm gong to have to fix this one though.

I was looking through old pictures and had forgotten about these quilts.

This is the first quilt I ever made.
I think I still have it.
I must of been about 14.
My first scrap quilt.

I saw this quilt in a Herrschners catalog  when I was about 19.
I had a friend help me with the bears
and then I made it.
I gave it away many years later.
When I took my kids to school, I would see this lady walking her child to school.
She had a baby in a stroller and there was no blanket.
It was Winter, so I gave it to the principle and asked him to give it to her.
I have no idea who she was, or if she even wanted it.

When I came home from Uruguay
I slept in a bed that I felt needed a quilt.
I made this one and tied it.
I think I wore this one out.

I had forgotten that I had taken pictures of these.
I was never afraid to try something new.

12 inch blocks

I received a great gift for Christmas.

I have the book Farm Girl Vintage, by Lori Holt.

Oh, I am so happy to have it.
It is fun to play with on a snowy day.
And we have had our fair share.

I have been making 12 inch blocks.
It is fun.

Snow Days

I love to see pictures of quilts in the snow,
so,
I went out this afternoon and took pictures of my projects.
I had a couple of snow days this week,
thus there was snow out there.

This is the 2nd one I have made like this.
One for each set of grand kids.

I put the border on this one.
To be honest,
I wasn't sure I liked it,
but it looks great in the snow.

I can't lie;
it was cold out there.
I froze my fingers off.
Probably should have worn the gloves that were in my pocket.

Happy Snow Sew Days

I missed you

I have had a couple of crazy weeks this holiday season.
I am grateful that my family has come home.
We have had time to eat, play games, visit, and go on some adventures.

But I have missed sewing.
Yesterday, after I finished the last load of laundry,
I realized that I had time to sew.

To my surprise, the fabric I had ordered for the border of my quilt had come.
I can't even begin to describe how cold it was.
We've had some bad weather.

But I really wanted to to finish this project.

I only had one block completed.
I really wanted to finish them.

#1  They are kinda tricky

#2  I was having some trouble picking out fabrics

#3 I just wanted to finish this project.

So I went to work.
I have 3 left.
Make that 4, I have one that needs to be picked out
and done again.
It's ugly.

I'm ready to get back to work,
and quilting.

I have a new grand daughter coming in March and I have a great idea for a quilt.

Let the new year begin!

Good to be Home

I finished this cross stitch.  I'm looking forward to visiting the Redwoods this Summer with my kids.  I was home this weeke...
