a little color in our world of white

I did make 2 more blocks

and I  am getting better at this method of locking the block's center.

This little 6 inch block was a little tricky.

But I also finally machine quilted this one.
It looks like candy to me.

We are experiencing freezing fog.
It is so dang cold, but it is so dang pretty.

Here is another little project I finished up.

Look at the ice crystals.

I love the red and pink next to my white world.

Lesson of the week:
If nature won't give you any color,
make your own.

Two more blocks

I made two more blocks today.
I watched the video to learn how to make it "swirl" when you press it.

My goal for next week is 3, after all, we do have an extra day off this week.

Time to get started

I really want to use my 30's reproductions for my new project.
I'm not sure why, but they are the happiest fabrics around.
I always love getting them out, so I got started.
I decided to make 6" squares.
This should be a fun project.

New Books

I decided to get a few quilts ready for quilting
before I went back to school.

This is the one I had to fix.
I can't decide how to quilt it, but when I do,
it is ready.

Today I borrowed my neighbors frames and
sandwiched two quilts.
I am going to machine quilt this one.

And this one is my new hand quilting project.

So, I saw this quilt in an advertisement in a quilt magazine
and decided that I couldn't live without making it.
I tried to buy the book at the local fabric stores, but struck out.

It came in the mail today and I love it.
I think I will take some time and enjoy making it.
I also think I might just watch these shows,
because a few of these blocks look a little tricky.

New Years Day

I will forever be thankful for my friend Liz,
who taught me that New Years Day is for sewing.

First I finally put this label on the basket quilt.

Then I put this together.
I cut out 5 of these a few years ago.
The fabrics are remnants of p.j.'s I made my kids when they were little.
I figure if I did one a month,
I could give them a gifts next year.

I did one more project,
but I am going to pick it out.
I hate it when I make a mistake and think it won't bother me.
Well, I made a mistake and it is driving me crazy.

I guess life is that way too.
I hope that the coming year brings you joy.
Happy New Year!

Good to be Home

I finished this cross stitch.  I'm looking forward to visiting the Redwoods this Summer with my kids.  I was home this weeke...
