Hawaiian Quilting

I have been interested in Hawaiian quilting for a few years. While at the Polynesian Culture Center I asked about it and was directed here.

I learned a lot. I had only heard of the traditional, one piece, but found they are doing applique on the main peice. This adorable turtle quilt was made with batiks, which is not turn needle.

They were all beautiful and I loved this little lady who shared so much information.

For the record, this was the only quilt stop I made. I'm ready to start one.
