Organization

I watched a podcast of a cross stitcher and she talked about how long it took her to start a new project because her thread was not organized.

I stopped then. If you can't find your tools they are of no use to you

My thread is in ziplock bags labeled with their DMC number. They are then placed in order on a ring. Then those rings are placed a plastic box labeled by the 100's. Then I even keep those numerically ordered.

I always know where they are. The top drawer has aida cloth in it. The middle drawers are for patterns and finished projects and the bottom is the thread. Those along the side are for thread for my receiving blankets.

My sister in law asked where I sew. I have also wanted to sew in the laundry room. I mean, with 5 kids, laundry day took a lot of time and I thought I would save time to hunker down and sew on the same day.

We have worked on this space for a long time. When we moved here it was concrete floors and a light bulb with a string hanging down. Now It makes a nice sewing/laundry room.

I still have my fabric and cutting table in adjacent rooms.

It works for me.

I would love to have seen my greatgrandmothers sewing situations.  It's a family thing. I have come to know that its very personal.  Just as long as it works for you.

As long as you sew....just keep stitching
