Beautiful Skies

I live in Southern Idaho, near the Snake River Canyon.
Every winter, eagles come from father north and hunt in the canyon.
A few years ago, someone told us about a tree were they congregate after a days hunting.
It is difficult to get a good picture of them, as this tree is off the beaten path,
but because you go in the early morning or late afternoon,
I always get a great shot of the sky.

I remember this morning, it was sooooo cold.

And here are just two of them.

This is a morning shot.

I'm not going to lie, there is no eagle in this picture,
and these are the trees down the road, but I love the color of the sky.

See, there was an eagle there, he was just leaving.

Quiet Book

I have been making a Quiet Book for my grandson.
I really wished thought the other grandma made him one already.
This is not my first quiet book, but  I wish I would could follow a pattern.

I turned to Pinterest and Google Image, and came up with some ideas.

My own personal thought...and there aren't many...
a zip-lock bag to put in pieces that escape.

I had made a few pages before I remembered where I put the felt and plastic.
They were in the craft box...Surprise!

I love having a laminator , for oh so many reasons,
but I laminated these postcards so he can use them over and over again.

I used fabric for these...so easy.

If you live in Wisconsin, you need a snowman page.

My husband had so much fun making a fishing pole.

Good thing I found the plastic.
I also tried sticky backed magnets on the fabric, without good results,
but with the laminated fish, they worked great.

I still need some cars for this page.

You may have noticed that it is not finished.
I think I need  2 more hours and we will have it done.

Too Cold for School Day!!

I was preparing for a Christmas program this week and
I really wanted to do this for the tables.

I needed 2 more table runners.
I feel blessed that when I asked my friend Liz
she sent me this one in the mail.

So, I still needed 1 more.
That is when we got a "Too Cold for School Day"
Turns out the buses wouldn't start.

I took it as a sign that I had time to make 1 more.

Have you ever done this method?
You quilt as you go.

I must admit that I poked my eye with a needle while binding..
still not sure how that happened.

I have always wanted something for this table.
Merry Christmas.

Busy Week

I have been so busy this week,
and my sewing machine has been lonely.

I did go to the Forgotten Carols and totally enjoyed it.

Here is a glimpse into a very original Christmas Musical.

Finished!

My knee has been in a bad way for a couple of weeks,
so I have tried to let it rest, which allowed me to finish up a couple of projects.

My mother sent this little table cloth home with me.
It just needed one corner done, and then I finished off with some binding.
I have never done that before, and may never do it again.

As I was putting this block of the month together,
I got a phone call asking me if I wanted to another one this year.
"Ummm, I don't think so, but thanks for thinking of me."

A few six years ago, I decided to make a quilt for each of my husbands siblings.
I am on sibling # 6, with one more to go.
They all didn't get a quilt, some got table runners,
and M & M didn't get one, because M makes the most beautiful quilts I have ever seen.
But this one is done and ready for the mail.

And last, but not least, I got these little mittens started.
I am excited to finish this little project.

The good news is that I went to the doctor
and he patched me up and my knee no longer needs to rest.
It is a good thing, because I was running out of projects to finish.

The Basket Quilt is Done!!!!!!

I got this little project cut out,
but I am going to have to get some more heat-n-bond
before I can start.

I am finally done with the baskets.
They make me happy.

I gave every basket a flower.

I am going to buy me some of these labels for it.
In fact, I want to give them to all my quilting buddies.
This Took Forever Woven Label

Nap Time

I finished up this quilt.
It is big enough for a nap....next year.

And then there was the night before I had to send my grand daughter her birthday present.
I had been planning on sending her a pink bag for a couple months,
so I am not sure why I waited until the last minute,
but I did.

Love using pink!

Puzzles

Have you ever been in the middle of quilt and thought
"Holy Cow! This thing may never fit together!"
Because, after all, quilts are like puzzles.

Well that is how I felt about this,
with pieces of quilt everywhere.
I was happy that the bottom section worked,
maybe the rest will work out too.

Leaves

I have been working on a few of these.
The poor leaves, need some stems.
Good plan for next week.

But it is so hard not to get out and enjoy our wonderful weather.

The colors are perfect for a walk...

or two...

I'm in Love with Fall Colors

A few years ago, I made this little quilt.
It looks great on the back of my couch,
however, I live in Idaho, and I it gets used.
It's just not big enough.

So, I started a new quilt.
I picked up the pattern in South Dakota.
It will be big enough for a nap.

I love the inspiration I have for fall colors around here.
--I will have to search out a Maple leaf.--

This is out my kitchen window.
Almost makes me want to do more dishes.

I also made another block for the Snowman quilt.
For those of you who don't live in Southern Idaho,
I will tell you that there is a truck sale called,
Bucks and Trucks.
If you buy a truck you get a gun.
I couldn't help but think of that while I was working on this block.
I am thinking I should put a gun somewhere on it.

The Corners on my Mind

I love turning a quilt and seeing the final border,
however, I have been trying to remember how
I did the little corners for a few days now.

I sure was happy I found this shot.
It will save me unrolling the quilt.
Yes, I have done that before.

Project 3 is almost done.
This is quilt for kids quilt.
It is not finished, but I hope to do that this week.
If you have never done this,
you should give it a try.

2 out of 3

I finished project 2 last night.
I think these would be great on a table.

I have made the pumpkins before,
but I made them round,
which was my intention here,
but when I saw them square,
I loved them.

1 out of 3

I have a four day weekend
and I really want to get 3 projects done,
as in finished.

With 1 day down,
I have 1 project finished.
I spent the rest of my day appliqueing.
I should have that project done tomorrow.

Little sewing here, a little sewing there

I drink water.....ice water......all day long.

So I needed a little something to set it on at work, so it doesn't make a mess.
I sewed this little something and have been using it at work.

I am also working on a bag for an auction.
My days are numbered, and my time is spoken for,
let's hope I get it finished in time.

September, please slow down!

I have not been able to post on my blog for a couple of weeks,
and I missed it so much.

I have been busy, but I had time to put this together.

When I was in Rapid City, South Dakota,
We stopped at a quilt shop --- and there were several---
and I picked up these patterns.
Which, I think I will try to put together.

Now, if you are ever in Rapid City,
you should stop.
It was a great shop and the people were so nice and helpful.

Good to be Home

I finished this cross stitch.  I'm looking forward to visiting the Redwoods this Summer with my kids.  I was home this weeke...
