Gifting

I spent a part of my day baking.
I just want to share these recipes,
because they are soooooo gooooood.
I make them to gift.

These Almond Joy Magic Cookie bars are fabulous.

Almond Joy Magic Cookie Bars

Then there are the German Chocolate Pecan Bars.

They do make nice gifts.
They are both yummy.

It's a good time of year to fix machines.
We have seen quite a few.
I understand.
'Please, fix it, I'm in the middle of a project.'

I'm continueing my 'clean off the sewing table' project.

I have had a bag sitting there for a while.
So I opened it up and started a disappearing 4 patch.
I'm not sure how I will set them, but it is a fun project;
bright and happy

12 inch blocks

After cooking for a couple of days this week,
I finally sat down and thought,
'Hey, I have time to sew.'

I finished up these blocks for a quilt for my quilt group.

I found this block in a magazine.
It said 12'' so I thought it must mean 12 1/2,
but no, it really meant 12.

I really like this disappearing 4 patch.
I am going to use a charm pack  next.

And because snow is pretty to look at,
here is a picture of our Thanksgiving day.

socks and bibs

I found myself with a little time this week,
so I made this for my son.

I know that I could go buy one,
but sometimes, I have more time than money.

My mom used to make the coolest bibs.
Since the grand kids come over to eat every now and then,
I wanted to make one.
The last time I made one was 18 years ago.

I was trying to remember how
and considered asking my mom.
Then I decided that I could figure it out.

It took a few minutes,
but I figured it out.

Christmas Sewing

Every year I think I won't do any Christmas sewing,
And every year I do it.

I found these cute little dogs,
and made a bag for them.

I finished these and they should be in the mail
by the 1st of December, for the countdown.

I used to make my daughter the most beautiful doll cloths.
As a matter of fact, I have been making them since I was a teenager.

So I made some for my grand daughter.
I still love making them.

I can't imagine a better way to fill my time.

A Keeper

I started putting my 56 squares together and
noticed that it was going to be bigger than I had anticipated.

When I was done, I couldn't really see it.

So, when my daughter came home and I showed her,
she took a picture for me.

Oh my, I also didn't anticipate that I would love it this much.

It's a keeper.

To be fair, I had think about how to do this.

Then, I sat down and started putting this together.

Hopefully, I can put it together this week.

Too Busy

I have been crazy busy.
And it makes me sad,
because I want to sew.

Sew,,,,here is my new project.
My daughter is getting married in June
and she has asked me to make the dress.

So we had a little adventure
and went to a trunk show and tried on a couple of dresses.

This is the one she likes the best.
She wants the top to be white on white dot fabric,
and she wants pockets.
Can I do it?

I think I can.

This was pretty,
but she doesn't want lace,
and this is 100% lace.

She tried this on for fun.
I didn't like it and she only liked it
because under the tulle,
is white on white dot fabric.

She liked this beading on the neck of one the dresses,
I liked it too.
Not sure how to do it,
but I figure I might be able to figure it out.

I have plenty of time to think about it.
So it should work out.

Starting New Projects

There are 56!

I had no idea how long it would take me to get them all done.
However, I think it will take a while to put them together.

So I put this quilt together for a friend doing chemo.
Then a group of women tied it.

To my horror, when I picked it up to bind,
most of the ties had come undone.
I tried to re-tie, but it was the thread, it just wouldn't stay tight.

So, I got up this morning and tied it again.

I also started a new project.
I am looking forward to this one.
I am doing it with my serger.
I hope it works.

Now to quilt it!
It's hard with the lovely weather.

More ladybugs

The quilt group I work with makes quilt every year for Hospice to auction off.
I was not thrilled with the choice of fabric,
but I think I picked up some pieces to go with it.

I have been appliqueing ladybugs.
They are so cute.
And do you know what?
I really like to applique.

One more ladybug

As soon as I took this picture,
I knew it needed one more ladybug.

We'll see if it happens.

I was happy to have a little time for quilting this week.
Let's face it,
Everyday you have time to sew,
is a good day.

Gray

I don't know about the rest of wold,
but I'm loving all the grays out there.

5 years ago I was looking of a little piece of gray,
and I could not find one.

Now, you find gray with anything.
I got these for a quilt for my middle son.

But I need to get some more.
They are beautiful

That Before School Starts Rush

In the middle of July I accepted a job offer to teach kindergarten in the mornings.
For the record, the rest of summer has been busy,
but the last two weeks have been CrAzY!

I hear my sewing machine call me.
And I am hoping to get back to it
this week.

who enjoyed the fair,

And left me some beautiful artwork.

Beach Time

We went back to California to visit family and friends,
and of course, our friend Sammy Seal.
He lives at the beach....

It was a beautiful day.

There is so much to see.

You may notice that my favorite color is on the boats
at the marina.

I love the color of the restaurant.

No fabric,
but yarn is equally
beautiful.

This flower was huge.

I called this the crazy waves beach.

Nice color combo.

It was a nice visit.

When You're Sewing You're Happy

I love this little quilt.

I finished one of the quilts from my basting party.
It kinda makes you dizzy.

I also finished this one.
I am hoping to get it to the fair.

I am trying to finish one more for the fair..
I'm working on the binding.
There is always something to do.

I went to visit my friend Dixie yesterday
and I was so happy to see that she had been sewing.
Maybe I believe that
When you're sewing you're happy.

Good to be Home

I finished this cross stitch.  I'm looking forward to visiting the Redwoods this Summer with my kids.  I was home this weeke...
