I finished the refurbishing of this quilt made by my great aunt.
It truly was a transformation. I wish I would have taken a picture before I started working on it.
Well, it needed some patches. Some were better color matches than others .
It needed cleaned....it was very dirty.
And it needed re-quilted.
At first I struggled with removing the original quilting, but I swear, I heard Aunt Edith tell to take them out.
So I did. It took a long time to pick them out, but it looks so much better.
I didn't realize that the center would need re-quilted until the end. I did not pick out the original. I just filled in what was missing. Which was more than I thought, but the result was stunning.
Although I still don't like the color of the border with the leaves, I think it is beautiful. Edith did a lovely job quilting and the appliques are nicely done.
I definitely have felt her presence as I re-did her work.
Quilting is my therapy......
Keep a needle between your fingers....
