Goal One

So, I am making my daughters wedding dress.
She picked out the style while trying some dresses on.

I have weekly goals,
It is a little terrifying,
so I'm taking it  one step at a time.

This week:  Buy pattern, fabric and make a mock bodice.

Victory!

We found what we needed at a local store.

I made the mock up bodice.
This is genius.  Not everyone fits into a pattern.
So, after we adjusted the neckline, and the waist,
I made another one.

It was perfect, so I took it apart and wrote on it.
These pieces are the new pattern.

This is on the edge of this fabric.
It will be beautiful on the sleeve.

Next weeks goal:
Make the bodice.

Nice to be Home

I'm anticipating some wedding sewing.
I may start as soon as next week,
so
I wanted to finish up these disappearing 4 patch squares.

As I was contemplating how to put them together,

I realized that they wanted to be turned.
Like a quilt block has never talked to you.
It is amazing what happens when you mix it up a little.

I also finished my 2nd News Years Day Project.

It's good to be home long enough to finish something.

Busy Weekend

We went to Canada to visit my son and his family.
You would think, that if you live in Idaho,
that you would know what cold is.
But let me tell you,
We don't.

On my flight from Denver, I ended up sitting next to lady who
loves the country and quilting.
You can't ask for much more than that.

Speaking of which,
I have a Canadian sewing buddy.
I love this girl.
She is very talented and has a heart of gold.

And I love these girls too.
They are sunshine on a cloudy day.

Got one

Look!  I finished a Quilt!
This one has taken some time.

I even like the way it turned out in the back.

New Year's Sewing

I'm not sure how time marches on faster and faster.
It's just not right.

But here we are in a new year.

I was in a museum in December and walked past this.
I really thought it was a painting, until I took a second look.

It is amazing.

I had a busy week before Christmas,
and the day after, we had a quick trip to California
to visit family,
but I had a nice sewing day on
New Years Day.

I decided to quilt these two quilts.
I made them a couple of years ago.

I tried using tape to mark these little squares.
It worked very well.

I cut out the binding for this quilt, when I cut out the quilt.
I have been looking at it for a couple of years,
so I think I'll bind this one first.

I have also been working on the snowmen.
The thought of cross-hatching  this square would not go away.
Sew, So, I finally decided to go with it.

Here is hoping that you all have a Happy New Year!

Didn't make It

My grand daughter asked for a quilt for her American girl doll. I just didn't get it done in time to mail, but she will be happy with it...
