Handmade for the Holidays

We went to visit my son and daughter in law before the big day.
My smart little daughter in law made this cute little wall hanging.
Not only did she make it, but she created it.
Needless to say, I was impressed.

The letters were made with coffee filters glued to cardboard.
Wow! what a great idea.
She also mentioned that it took some planing to make her wreath look random.
Boy, do I know that feeling.

This little family might stand a chance with me, so I took a couple of pictures for next year.
The sign was also hand made with vinyl letters.

The truth is, the best things in life are handmade.
God bless you and have a Merry Christmas!

This showed up on my doorstep today.
I love it!
Thank you Liz, you know how to brighten my day.

Christmas Tree Skirts

One of my favorite projects was this Christmas Tree skirt.
I made it many years ago, when I first started quilting.
I made one for my mother too.

My point?
I have never been able to find the pattern.
I know it was in a book, but I can never seem to find it.
I would like to make one for my kids.

I finished this little quilt for my grand daughter.
I think she will like it.
Also, look how green the grass is.
It has been so warm here...not complaining.

Sewing on a Button Lesson

One of the ladies that I work with asked if I would teach her how to sew on a button.
I said it would be no problem,
Then she picked up a pencil and paper and asked,
"What am I going to need to purchase?"

Well, long story short, I told her I would bring the stuff.
It blows my mind to think of a home without a needle and thread.
It also made me smile.

We had a good lesson.

I also finished my little wall hanging.

T-Shirt Quilts

First let me tell you that I love this blogger and I wish her the very best in life.
She just posted a turtorial  and I wanted to pin it on Pinterest,
but I have no idea how to do that unless a little red pin button is near by.
Enjoy!

Crocheting and Hooded Scraf

I have been on a crocheting frenzy lately.
I can't help myself, once I start, I just keep thinking of more projects.
I made this hooded scarf for those frosty Idaho mornings.

(please forgive me, I hate to have my picture taken, but someone asked to see the scarf)
It is about 70 inches long and 18 inches tall.
I like it.  I am going to make one out of wool yarn next.
See what I mean?

And then there is my receiving blanket habit.
I have 3 more I am working on now.

What I need to do is make a new quilt list and retire the crochet hook.
Happy Monday!

Penguins

I am still working on this little project.
I have a couple of days off this week, so I hope to finish it up.

Penguins

I was so happy that I started something, that I had to share.
When I saw this in Quick Quilts, I knew my daughter would love it.
Can't wait to work on it.

Crazy Week

I started to post a picture of this last week, but never did get to it.
Happy late Halloween.

We did go to visit this little guy and enjoyed the trip sooooo much.

As if it were a sign, there were quilts displayed at the airport.
They were lovely and reminded me that when I get home, I need to sew.

And in the mist of this crazy week, here is a way to save the world.

Crafts

Here is something that you will rarely see here.
I did a craft!
They were easy and someone else made the handles.

Delivered

This little quilt is now in the hands of someone who will use it.
I told her it reminder me of a summer afternoon.

I have another long weekend and my husband cleaned my machine so
I am thinking of a fall project.

Sandwiching Success

I thought about how to quilt this one, but the batting sealed the deal.
I had 100% cotton, I usually use 80/20.
So I have my work cut out for me.

I also got this one ready to quilt.  I am looking forward to this one.

The things I do on my days off

As I was driving to work on Monday, I started thinking about making a quilt for a teacher who is going to take off a couple of months to do some aggressive cancer treatments.
After talking to her, I decided to make a hankie quilt.

Yes, it is the 5th one I have made...and the final...I am out of hankie panels.

So why a hankie quilt?
Here is why I am hooked on hankies.
When I was a little girl, my grandmother used to send me a hankie for my birthday.

When I pulled this one out, I thought, 'wow, I should put this in a little quilt.'
I think that when these hankies are added to the 30's reproductions they make a happy memory.

Now, back to work.  I only have a week to finish this one up.

Saturday Quilting Fun

So my friend Dixie and I went to the Twin Falls Quilt Walk yesterday.
There were not a lot of quilts, but we ran into a lot of friends.
This was a cute one.

I have had fabric to make my grand daughter a quilt all summer.
I could not figure out exactly what I wanted.
When I went to the quilt show in Montana, I figured it out.
So I found this pattern in Quick Quilts and

did this.  I love it.  Can't wait to put on the boarders and take a better picture.

I went a little flannel crazy the other day.
I know I have a few baby girl presents coming soon, so I stocked up.
Love all that pink.

Do you remember the dress?

Winnie the Pooh

A couple of weeks ago I picked this up for 89 cents.
I forgot how little those little squares could be.
But my grand daughter loves Winnie the Pooh.

I am also making her a quilt for her birthday.

It felt good to sew today.

I'll take what I can get

I finished this!
In the summer I like to take a walk in the morning and then come outside for breakfast.
I need a place mat, but instead I made this.

Is it too pretty to use?  I guess I'll have some time to think on it.

Busy Week

I have had such a busy week.  First, Project 4 and I went to a car show .

Then the owner of Project 1 arrived.

And although he is too far away to go see, I have enjoyed seeing his pictures.

Then I went back to work.  Can't wait for the students to come.

We also took one of my sons to college.  Oddly enough, we ran into the new owners of Project 3.

Maybe some sewing this week.

Project 4

This is project 4.
She picked out this pattern and fabric.
I was happy it fit her without much tweaking.

Post Office Day

Project 3

These place mats are an over due wedding present.
I never get tired of sewing Halloween projects, which is interesting, because I am not a big fan of Halloween.

Project 4 is a dress for my daughter.  She decided to come home for the weekend, so I left hers to be tweaked.  I will finish it later today.
I made it to the post office and trust me, my wallet felt the pinch.

Pink and Green

I finally finished this.  This is the first quilt I made after I had surgery last summer.
I didn't realize how hard it was going to be cut it out.
Therefor, it has many mistakes in it.
I am glad it is done.

I can't believe it, but I only have 3 tops that need to be quilted.
I wonder how it would be to get caught up.

County Fair

Look what Dixie won at the fair!
I love hers, however, I am not sure if I am ever going to like  mine.
My quilts at the fair got blue ribbons, but after winning a big, purple Best of Show,
it just isn't the same.  Maybe next year.

Mailing Goals

After a couple of weeks of hanging with my family, I came home with 1 goal in mind.
I have 4 projects that need to be mailed.
So I set a date of Friday the 16th to go to the Post Office.

Project 1

I quilted and binded this baby quilt.
I think I like it.

Project 2

I also have this tree skirt done and ready to mail.
I am also trying to finish my pink and green quilt, but it is staying here.

So with 1 week to go, I have 2 more projects.

Colors of the Earth

So while in Montana, we went to Glacier National Park.
I was fascinated with the colors of the earth.

I love the almost red centers to these flowers.
The contrast with the yellow is beautiful.

While on a hike, we were surrounded by this green.
The different shades of  brown in the rocks of the stream are amazing.

Heaven knows I have been obsessed with this color blue we found at the waterfall.
But notice how it works so well with the other colors around it.

I was struck by the fact that white is an earth tone.
As well as the pink in this Indian Paint Brush.

And the other thought I had in the park is this one from the Book of Mormon

 Believe in God; believe that he is, and that he created all things, both in heaven and in earth;

Eureka Montana Quilt Show

I went to a fun quilt show in Eureka Montana this weekend.

As you can see, it was an outdoor quilt show.

There were over 400 quilts.

The weather was fabulous.

But my favorite part was being surrounded by quilters.
I love that they had their cameras.
I loved the sounds that they made.
I love that they came with their friends.
There is nothing like spending the day with quilters.
